Advisory: Beware of Websites Impersonating Singapore Police Force (SPF)

police-gov-pk.cc

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has noted a trend of scam websites, like "police-gov-pk.cc", that impersonate the SPF. These sites aim to trick you into believing they are official law enforcement platforms to steal your information.

How to recognise this scam:

  • Check the website address (URL): Official SPF websites always end with .gov.sg. Be wary of any website claiming to be SPF that uses a different domain, such as .cc or .com.
  • Unexpected messages: Be cautious of unsolicited SMS, emails, or messages asking you to click links or provide personal details, supposedly from SPF, especially if they demand urgent action.

What to do if you encounter such a scam or were affected:

  • Add security features: If you have already provided personal details on a scam site, change your passwords for relevant accounts immediately. Monitor your bank accounts closely for any unauthorised transactions.
  • Check for scam signs: Do not click on suspicious links. Verify any message claiming to be from SPF by checking official SPF sources or calling the official SPF hotline at 1800-255-0000. Do not use contact details provided in the suspicious message.
  • Tell authorities, family and friends: Report any suspicious websites, emails, or messages to the Police at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness or call the Police hotline at 1800-255-0000. Inform your loved ones about this scam.
