Advisory: Be Wary of Unsolicited Online Loan Offers

pickmealoan.com

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a trend of scam websites, such as "pickmealoan.com", offering seemingly attractive loan deals. These sites are designed to trick individuals into believing they can get quick and easy loans.

How to Recognise These Loan Scams:

  • You receive unsolicited offers for quick or easy loans, especially from unknown sources or through suspicious-looking websites like the one reported.
  • You are asked to pay an upfront "administrative fee", "processing fee", or "security deposit" before the loan can be disbursed. Legitimate financial institutions do not typically demand such fees before loan disbursement.

What to do if you encounter or are affected by such scams:

If you encounter such an offer, remember to Check for scam signs and verify with official sources.

If you have fallen victim to a loan scam, it's crucial to ACT quickly:

  1. Stop all communication with the scammer immediately.
  2. Tell authorities: Report the incident to the Police via the online form at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness or call 999.
  3. Tell your bank: If you have made any payments or shared banking details, contact your bank immediately to halt transactions and secure your accounts.
  4. Tell friends and family: Share your experience to help them identify and avoid similar scams.
