Protect Yourself from UnionPay Impersonation Scams

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a recent trend of scam websites impersonating UnionPay. These fake websites aim to trick you into revealing your personal or banking details.

Here’s how you can recognise such scams:

  • Check the website address carefully. Scammers use unusual domain names (e.g., ending in .cc) to mimic official UnionPay sites. Always look for official UnionPay domain names.
  • Be wary of unsolicited messages or sites asking for your personal or banking information. Official organisations will typically not ask for sensitive details via unverified links.

What to do if you are affected: If you have provided your personal or banking details on a suspicious UnionPay-impersonating website:

  • Immediately contact your bank or card issuer to report the fraudulent transaction or compromise.
  • Change any passwords that might have been compromised.
  • Report the incident to the Police.
