Advisory: Beware of Scams Impersonating the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)

ica-gov.com

The Singapore Police Force has observed recent trends of scam websites impersonating the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA). These fraudulent sites, such as "ica-gov.com", are designed to trick you into revealing personal information or making payments.

Here's how to recognise such scams:

  • Unusual Website Addresses: Always verify the website address. Official ICA websites always end with ".gov.sg". Be suspicious of URLs like "ica-gov.com" or others that look similar but are not "ica.gov.sg".
  • Unexpected Requests: Be cautious of messages or websites that unexpectedly ask for your personal information (like NRIC, passport numbers, bank account details, or Singpass login) or demand urgent payments. ICA will not ask for such sensitive information via unofficial channels.

If you encounter such a scam or have provided your details:

  • Add security features: Enhance the security of your online accounts by enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Singpass and other crucial services.
  • Check for scam signs: Always verify the authenticity of any message or website with official sources, such as the ICA website (www.ica.gov.sg) or official hotlines. Never click on suspicious links.
  • Tell authorities: If you suspect you have fallen victim to a scam, report it to the police immediately. If your banking details were compromised, also inform your bank to freeze your accounts.
