Advisory: Beware of Scams Impersonating Public Transport Voucher (PTVE)

gtva.link

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed an increase in scams impersonating the Public Transport Voucher Exercise (PTVE). Scammers are sending messages with fake links, attempting to trick the public into divulging personal information or clicking on malicious websites.

How to recognise this scam:

  • You receive unexpected messages or SMSes regarding Public Transport Vouchers that contain suspicious links (e.g., gtva.link). Official messages will direct you to government websites or apps, not shortened or unfamiliar links.
  • The messages may ask for personal details like banking information or one-time passwords (OTPs) to "redeem" or "verify" your voucher. Official PTVE processes do not require you to provide such sensitive information via SMS links.

What to do if you encounter or are affected by this scam:

  • Do not click on suspicious links. If you receive an unexpected message about Public Transport Vouchers, verify its authenticity with official sources like the Ministry of Transport (MOT) or the Land Transport Authority (LTA) websites directly.
  • Do not provide any personal or banking details, including OTPs, through unknown links or requests.
  • If you have already clicked on a link or provided your details, immediately change your online banking passwords and report the incident to your bank. Report the scam message or call to the Police. Inform your family and friends about this scam.
