Advisory: Beware of Phishing Scams Impersonating UOB

trigonmining.co.za

The Singapore Police Force warns the public, especially UOB customers, about a rise in banking-related phishing scams.

How to recognise this scam:

  • You may receive unexpected messages or emails that appear to be from UOB, asking you to click on a link to verify your account, update details, or resolve an urgent issue.
  • These links often lead to fake websites, not UOB's official site (e.g., trigonmining.co.za), which are designed to trick you into entering your banking login details.

What to do if you are affected:

If you have clicked on a suspicious link or provided your banking details on a fake website, immediately contact UOB through their official hotline or mobile app. Report the incident to the police and change your banking passwords.

I can ACT against scams:

  • Add security features: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all your banking accounts and set transaction limits where available.
  • Check for scam signs: Always scrutinise sender details and verify URLs carefully. Do not click on suspicious links. Access your banking services only through the official UOB website or mobile application.
  • Tell authorities, family and friends: Report any scam attempts to the police and inform your family and friends about these tactics to protect them.
