The Singapore Police Force would like to alert the public to a rise in phishing scams impersonating "SPX". We have observed multiple reports of scam sites, such as villen.cyou, being used to trick individuals into revealing their personal information.
Here's how to recognise these scams and protect yourself:
- Check for scam signs: Be wary of unexpected messages or emails claiming to be from "SPX". These messages often contain links that direct you to fake websites, like
villen.cyou, which look legitimate but are designed to steal your personal information. Always scrutinise the sender's email address and the website URL for any irregularities.
- Verify with official sources: If you receive a message from SPX, always visit their official website or app directly to verify any claims, instead of clicking on links provided in the message.
If you suspect you have fallen victim to such a scam:
- Do not provide any personal or banking details on suspicious websites.
- If you have already entered details, immediately change your passwords for affected accounts and contact your bank to report any unauthorised transactions.
- Inform the Police and alert your family and friends about the scam.
Remember, you can ACT against scams:
- Add security features like two-factor authentication (2FA) for your accounts and use strong, unique passwords.
- Check for scam signs and verify information with official sources.
- Tell authorities, family, and friends about scams.
