The Singapore Police Force (SPF) would like to alert the public to an increase in phishing scams impersonating SingPost. Scammers are sending fake messages or emails designed to trick you into revealing your personal and financial information.
How to recognise this scam:
- You receive unexpected SMS messages or emails claiming to be from SingPost about package delivery issues (e.g., failed delivery, unpaid shipping fees) or asking you to update delivery details.
- These messages contain links that direct you to fake websites that look like the official SingPost website but have suspicious or unfamiliar website addresses (e.g.,
personail.cfd).
What to do if you encounter this scam or were affected:
- Check: Do not click on suspicious links. Always verify the authenticity of any message or email by checking the official SingPost website or contacting their official customer service directly. Look closely at the sender's email address or SMS sender ID, and the website URL for any irregularities.
- Tell: If you have provided your personal or banking details, immediately change your passwords and monitor your bank accounts for any unauthorised transactions. Report the incident to the police. Inform your friends and family about such scams so they can be vigilant.
