Advisory on Phishing Scams Impersonating MoneySmart

moneysmart.one

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a recent increase in phishing attempts impersonating the financial comparison platform, MoneySmart. Scammers are creating fake websites and messages to trick members of the public into revealing their personal information.

Here’s how to recognise these scams:

  • Check the website address carefully. Scammers use URLs that look similar to official brand names but contain slight differences (e.g., moneysmart.one instead of the official MoneySmart website).
  • Be cautious of unsolicited messages or advertisements. These often promote attractive deals or ask you to update personal details, directing you to unfamiliar links.

If you believe you have fallen victim to such a scam:

  • If you have provided your banking details, contact your bank immediately to monitor for any unauthorised transactions.
  • Change the passwords for any accounts that may have been compromised and for any other accounts using the same password.
  • Report the incident to the police.
