Public Advisory: Beware of Loan Scams Offering 'Easy Money'

pickmealoan.com

The Singapore Police Force has observed reports of loan scams involving suspicious websites like "pickmealoan.com". These scams often promise quick and easy loans but aim to steal your personal information or money.

How to recognise such scams:

  • You receive unsolicited messages or see advertisements offering quick, easy loans with guaranteed approval, often without credit checks.
  • Scammers ask for upfront fees (e.g., "administrative charges") or your banking login details before any loan is disbursed. Legitimate financial institutions do not request such sensitive information or upfront payments for loan applications.

What to do if affected:

  • Do not click on suspicious links or respond to unsolicited loan offers. Always verify loan offers directly with official financial institutions.
  • If you have provided personal details, banking information, or made payments:
    • Report the incident immediately to the Police.
    • Contact your bank to suspend affected accounts and reverse unauthorised transactions.
    • Change passwords for all online accounts that might have been compromised.
    • Inform family and friends about these scams.
