The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a trend of job scams impersonating legitimate companies, including brands like Starview and GREY. These scams lure victims with promises of easy money or high commissions through fake job offers.
How to recognise these scams:
- You receive unsolicited messages (SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, or social media) offering highly attractive part-time or full-time jobs with little effort, often requiring you to "like" posts, submit reviews, or make upfront payments for commissions.
- Scam websites may mimic legitimate company portals but have suspicious or slightly altered URLs (e.g., using unusual domain extensions like
.cyou or a slightly wrong company name) and often pressure you to provide personal or financial details quickly.
What to do if you were affected:
- Stop: Immediately cease all communication with the scammer and do not make any further payments or perform any requested tasks.
- Notify: Alert your bank to halt any transactions and change your online banking credentials, including passwords and PINs.
- Report: Lodge a police report as soon as possible.
