Advisory: Beware of Investment Scams Impersonating or Leveraging TikTok

cleanspark.cyou

The Singapore Police Force has observed a trend of investment scams leveraging the popularity of social media platforms like TikTok. Scammers create fake investment websites and use these platforms to lure victims with promises of unusually high returns.

Here's how to recognise this scam:

  • Be cautious of investment opportunities promoted on social media platforms like TikTok that promise unusually high returns in a short period. Such offers are often too good to be true.
  • Always check the website address (URL) carefully. Legitimate platforms like TikTok use their official domains (e.g., tiktok.com) and will not direct you to unfamiliar or suspicious-looking URLs for investments. For instance, websites like cleanspark.cyou are not legitimate TikTok domains.

If you suspect you have fallen victim:

  • If you have provided your personal details or banking information, monitor your accounts for any unauthorised activity.
  • If you have made financial transactions, contact your bank immediately to report the fraudulent transaction and stop further deductions.
  • Report the incident to the Police.
