Advisory: Beware of Investment Scams Impersonating Crypto.com

kdmwj.com

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a trend of investment scams impersonating legitimate cryptocurrency platforms like Crypto.com. Scammers create fake websites and applications to trick victims into investing in fraudulent schemes, promising high and quick returns.

Here's how you can recognise these scams:

  • Check for scam signs: Always verify the website address. Scammers often use generic or slightly altered URLs (e.g., kdmwj.com) that do not belong to the official brand, even if the website looks legitimate.
  • Unrealistic promises: Be highly suspicious of unsolicited offers or online advertisements that promise high, guaranteed returns with little to no risk. Legitimate investments always carry some level of risk.

If you suspect you have fallen victim to such a scam:

  • Tell authorities: Report the incident to the police immediately.
  • Tell your bank: Contact your bank or financial institution to halt any suspicious transactions and secure your accounts.
  • Add security features: Change your passwords for all financial and online accounts, especially if you have provided them on a suspicious site. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for added security where available.
