Advisory: Watch Out for Impersonation Investment Scams

simog.top
b2goldmining.shop

We've observed a recent trend of fake investment websites impersonating legitimate companies like SIMO and B2Gold. These fraudulent sites aim to trick individuals into believing they are investing in genuine opportunities, often luring them with attractive, unrealistic returns.

How to Recognise These Scams:

  • Unrealistic Promises: Be wary of investment opportunities that guarantee exceptionally high returns with little to no risk. If an offer seems too good to be true, it likely is.
  • Suspicious Website Addresses: Always scrutinise the website's URL. Scammers often use domain names that are slightly different from the official company's (e.g., simog.top, b2goldmining.shop) or use uncommon top-level domains like .top or .shop. Legitimate companies typically use common and official domains such as .com or .sg.

What to Do If Affected:

If you believe you have fallen victim to such a scam or have provided your banking details or personal information on a suspicious site:

  • Contact Your Bank Immediately: Inform your bank to halt any suspicious transactions and secure your accounts.
  • Report to the Police: Lodge a police report via the online form at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness or call the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000.
  • Change Passwords: If you used the same password on the scam site as you do for other online accounts, change those passwords immediately.
