The Singapore Police Force has observed a trend of fake online job scams, often impersonating legitimate B2B platforms like "B2B Wave" and other e-commerce brands.
Scammers lure victims with promises of easy money through part-time jobs such as boosting product sales or optimising online listings. These jobs typically require you to access suspicious websites.
How to recognise this scam:
- You receive unsolicited messages (SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram) offering attractive part-time jobs with high commissions for simple tasks.
- You are directed to register or perform tasks on unofficial websites with unusual domain names (e.g.,
cdiscountsb.com, argos-online.me, bigbuy.rest) that may mimic legitimate brands but are slightly off.
What to do if you encounter or are affected by this scam:
Remember to ACT against scams:
- Adding security features: Change passwords for relevant online accounts and enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for added security.
- Checking for scam signs: Stop all communication with the scammer. Do not make any further payments, provide personal details, or click on suspicious links.
- Telling authorities, family and friends: Report the incident to the Police. If you have made any payments or disclosed banking details, inform your bank immediately to freeze your accounts.
