Alert: Beware of Fake LTA Websites and Phishing Scams

sgx24.com
gov-onemoatoring.com

The Singapore Police Force has observed a recent trend of phishing scams impersonating the Land Transport Authority (LTA). Scammers are setting up fake websites that mimic official LTA or OneMotoring portals to trick members of the public into revealing personal or financial information.

How to recognise these scams:

  • Check the website address carefully: Scammers use URLs that look similar to official LTA websites but are slightly different (e.g., sgx24.com, gov-onemoatoring.com). Always verify that you are on the official LTA website, which is typically onemotoring.lta.gov.sg.
  • Unexpected requests for personal or banking details: These fake sites may prompt you to provide personal information, Singpass details, or banking credentials for various services like road tax payment, vehicle registration, or checking fines.

What to do if you were affected:

If you have provided your details on a suspicious website:

  • Immediately change your Singpass password and any other passwords that might have been compromised.
  • If you have shared banking or credit card details, contact your bank immediately to monitor your accounts for unauthorised transactions.
  • Report the incident to the police.

Remember, you can ACT against scams:

  • Adding security features like two-factor authentication (2FA) for your online accounts.
  • Checking for scam signs such as unusual URLs or unexpected requests for personal information. Always verify information with official sources by typing in the official website address directly.
  • Telling authorities (by reporting the scam), family, and friends about scams to raise awareness.
