Advisory: Beware of Fake LTA Websites and Phishing Scams

sg-bilz.top
tscs.top

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed an increase in phishing scam websites impersonating the Land Transport Authority (LTA). These fake websites aim to trick members of the public into revealing their personal and financial details by mimicking official LTA pages. Recent examples include sites like sg-bilz.top and tscs.top.

How to recognise these scams:

  • Always check the website address (URL). Official LTA websites will always end with lta.gov.sg (e.g., www.lta.gov.sg, efta.lta.gov.sg, one.lta.gov.sg, onemotoring.lta.gov.sg). Scammers use unusual or misspelled addresses like sg-bilz.top or tscs.top.
  • Be wary of unexpected messages or links, especially those asking for personal or banking details for LTA-related matters such as tolls, fines, or vehicle registration.

What to do if you encounter or are affected by such scams (I can ACT against scams):

  • Add security features: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for your online accounts and use strong, unique passwords. This adds an extra layer of protection even if your details are compromised.
  • Check for scam signs: Always verify information with official LTA channels or websites. Do not click on suspicious links or provide personal details to unverified websites.
  • Tell authorities, family and friends: If you have provided your details on a fake site, immediately change your passwords for any affected accounts and monitor your bank statements for unauthorised transactions. Report any unauthorised transactions to your bank immediately. Inform the police about the scam. Share this advisory with your friends and family to help them stay vigilant.
