Advisory: Beware of Fake Litecoin Investment Websites

litecoin-machine.co

The Singapore Police Force has observed a trend of investment scams involving fake websites impersonating cryptocurrency platforms, specifically using the "Litecoin" brand. These scams often trick individuals into believing they are investing in legitimate cryptocurrency, only to lose their money.

How to recognise this scam:

  • Scammers create deceptive websites that closely mimic legitimate cryptocurrency investment platforms or services, often featuring well-known brand names like Litecoin. Always check the URL carefully for any discrepancies and verify the legitimacy of the platform through official sources.
  • They promise unusually high returns on investment in a short period with little to no risk. If an investment opportunity sounds too good to be true, it likely is.

What to do if you encounter or are affected by such a scam:

  • If you encounter such a website, do not engage.
  • If you suspect you have fallen victim to this scam, or have provided your personal or financial details, immediately cease all communication with the scammers.
  • Do not make any further payments. Tell the Police about the incident and inform your bank immediately.
  • As a precautionary measure, add security by changing your online banking passwords and enabling two-factor authentication for all your accounts.
