Advisory: Beware of Fake Job Scams Impersonating TikTok

fdfdd.cc

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a trend of job scams impersonating popular social media platforms like TikTok. Scammers are luring individuals with promises of easy money through fake part-time jobs.

Here's how to recognise such scams:

  • You receive unsolicited messages or encounter advertisements on social media offering highly attractive job opportunities with minimal effort, often promising high daily commissions.
  • The job offer directs you to unofficial websites or messaging apps, asking for personal details, upfront payments, or requiring you to perform tasks that involve transferring money.

If you encounter such a scam or have fallen victim:

  • Add security features: Immediately secure your bank accounts and online profiles. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all your accounts.
  • Check for scam signs: Always verify job offers by contacting the official company directly through their official channels, not through links or contact details provided in the suspicious message. Do not make any upfront payments.
  • Tell authorities, family and friends: Report the incident to the police immediately. Inform your family and friends about the scam to protect them.
