Advisory: Beware of Fake Job Offers Associated with smartviewad.com

smartviewad.com

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed recent trends involving fake job offers, particularly those associated with the website smartviewad.com.

Scammers are luring individuals with promises of high earnings for minimal effort, often through unsolicited messages on platforms like WhatsApp or Telegram.

How to recognise this scam:

  • You receive unsolicited job offers via messaging apps or social media, promising high pay for simple tasks (e.g., reviewing apps, optimising social media) and often directing you to suspicious websites like smartviewad.com.
  • You are asked to make upfront payments (e.g., for administrative fees, training materials, or to "advance funds"), download suspicious applications, or provide personal banking details to secure a "job."

What to do if you encounter such offers or are affected (ACT against scams):

Adding security features: Strengthen your accounts by enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all online services, including banking and social media. Download the ScamShield app to block scam calls and SMSes.

Checking for scam signs: Always verify any job offer by contacting the company directly through their official website or recognised job portals. Do not click on suspicious links or download apps from unverified sources. Be sceptical of offers that seem too good to be true or require upfront payments.

Telling authorities, family, and friends: If you suspect a job offer is a scam, inform your friends and family. If you have fallen victim, immediately report any unauthorised transactions to your bank and file a police report. If you have downloaded suspicious apps, remove them and secure your devices.
