Advisory: Guard Against Fake Investment Schemes Impersonating Companies

piarjuy.top

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) reminds the public to be vigilant against investment scams that impersonate legitimate companies or create fake entities to trick victims. We have observed cases involving fake investment opportunities, some using names like 'Pilbara Mining', enticing individuals with promises of high returns.

How to recognise such scams:

  • Be cautious of unsolicited investment opportunities, particularly those promising unusually high or guaranteed returns with little to no risk. Legitimate investments always carry some level of risk.
  • Always scrutinise the website's URL carefully. Scammers often use web addresses that look slightly different from official company websites or contain suspicious-looking domain names (e.g., ending with unusual extensions or random character strings like piarjuy.top).

What to do if you encounter or are affected by such a scam (I can ACT against scams):

  • Check for scam signs: Before committing to any investment, verify its legitimacy. Visit the official company's website directly or contact them through their officially listed contact channels. Do not click on suspicious links or rely solely on information provided by the supposed 'investment agent'.
  • Tell authorities, family and friends: If you suspect it's a scam, stop all communication with the perpetrators immediately. If you have already transferred money or provided personal details, contact your bank to report the fraudulent transactions and make a police report. Inform your family and friends about these scams to protect them.
