Alert: Fake Investment Platform 'RapidApp' Detected

rapid-app.net

We have observed a trend of investment scams involving a purported platform named 'RapidApp'. Scammers are using such names to trick individuals into fake investment opportunities, often promising high returns for minimal risk.

How to recognise this scam:

  • You receive unsolicited offers promising unusually high returns in a short period, often promoting an unknown investment platform or app like 'RapidApp'.
  • You are asked to download a specific app from a link provided by the scammer, rather than from official app stores like Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

What to do if you encounter this scam or have been affected:

  1. Add security features: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all your financial accounts and use strong, unique passwords. Regularly review your account statements for any unauthorised transactions.
  2. Check for scam signs: Always verify investment opportunities with official sources like the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Investor Alert List (www.mas.gov.sg/investor-alert-list) before committing any funds. Be wary of promises of guaranteed high returns with little to no risk, or pressure to invest quickly. Do not download apps from unverified sources.
  3. Tell authorities, family and friends: If you have shared your banking details, transferred money, or downloaded suspicious apps, immediately notify your bank and make a police report. Inform your family and friends about these tactics to protect them.
