The Singapore Police Force has observed reports involving investment scams, particularly those impersonating cryptocurrency mining platforms. Scammers operating under names like "BTC MINING" are luring victims with promises of high or guaranteed returns.
How to recognise this scam:
- Be cautious of unsolicited offers or advertisements promoting high returns from cryptocurrency mining investments, especially if they sound too good to be true.
- Scammers will direct you to fraudulent websites, such as "btc-mining.trade", to register and make "investments". These sites often look legitimate but are designed to steal your money.
If you suspect you have been affected or are a victim of such a scam:
- Immediately cease all communication with the scammers and do not transfer any more money.
- Report the incident to the police.
- Inform your bank or financial institution of any transactions made.
