The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a recent rise in investment scams impersonating Channel NewsAsia (CNA). Scammers are exploiting the trusted brand of CNA to promote fraudulent investment schemes.
Here's how to recognise such scams:
- Scammers create fake websites or social media posts designed to look like official CNA news articles, often promoting quick, high-return investment opportunities.
- Always check the website address (URL) carefully. Legitimate CNA websites will have official domains, not suspicious or unfamiliar ones like
notorudibuvu.xyz.
If you suspect you have fallen victim to such a scam:
- Immediately cease all communication with the scammers. Do not make any further payments.
- Notify your bank and report the incident to the police. If you have shared personal or banking details, change your passwords and monitor your accounts for any unauthorised transactions.
