Stay Vigilant Against E-Commerce Scams: Beware of Sites like 'Copililis'

copililis.com

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has observed a trend of E-Commerce scams involving fake shopping websites, including one identified as 'Copililis'. These scams aim to trick shoppers into making purchases on non-existent or fraudulent platforms, often resulting in financial loss or non-delivery of goods.

To recognise such E-Commerce scams:

  • Be wary of deals on unfamiliar websites like 'Copililis.com' that offer prices significantly lower than market rates.
  • Look out for suspicious payment methods, lack of secure payment gateways, or absence of legitimate contact information on the website.

If you believe you have fallen victim to an E-Commerce scam, you can ACT against it:

  • Add security features: Immediately contact your bank to report any unauthorised transactions and change passwords for any accounts that might have been compromised (e.g., email, banking). Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your online accounts.
  • Check for scam signs: Gather all available information, such as transaction details and the scam website URL. This information will be crucial for investigations.
  • Tell authorities, family and friends: Report the scam to the police at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness or call the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000. Inform your family and friends about the scam to prevent them from falling victim.
