The Singapore Police Force has observed a trend of phishing scams targeting users of DBS PayLah. Scammers are using fake websites, often with unusual URLs such as posb.live, to trick individuals into revealing their banking credentials.
How to recognise this scam:
- Unusual Website Addresses: Always scrutinise the website address. Official DBS/POSB websites will use
dbs.com.sg or posb.com.sg. Scammers create similar-looking but fake addresses (e.g., posb.live) to deceive you.
- Unexpected Requests for Login: Be cautious of links received via SMS, email, or messaging apps that suddenly ask you to log in or update sensitive banking details, especially if you did not initiate the action.
If you suspect you have fallen victim to this scam:
- Immediately contact your bank (DBS/POSB) to report the incident and secure your accounts.
- Report the scam to the police.
Remember, you can ACT against scams:
- Add security features: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and set transaction limits for your banking accounts.
- Check for scam signs: Always verify the authenticity of websites and messages with official sources. Do not click on suspicious links.
- Tell authorities, family and friends: Report scam attempts to your bank and the police. Share this information to protect your loved ones.
