ACT Against Job Scams Impersonating E-commerce Platforms

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) observes a trend of job scams using deceptive websites that impersonate well-known e-commerce platforms like Shopee and Coupang, as well as other generic shopping sites. These scams lure victims with promises of easy money for simple online tasks.

How to recognise these scams:

• You receive unsolicited messages or encounter ads offering attractive part-time jobs (e.g., liking products, reviewing shops, boosting sales) with high commissions for minimal effort.
• The job requires you to visit websites with suspicious URLs that look similar to legitimate e-commerce platforms (e.g., wwwshopee.net, coupang-vip.com, shopping8.shop) but are actually fake.

What to do if you were affected:

If you suspect you have fallen victim to such a scam:

1. Stop all communication with the scammers immediately.
2. Do not make any further payments or transfer more money.
3. Report the incident to the Police by calling 999.
4. Notify your bank immediately to halt any transactions.

Remember, legitimate job offers will not require you to make upfront payments or provide sensitive personal banking details for tasks like these.
